YBO - With the goal of maintaining achievements in polio eradication, eliminating neonatal tetanus, and preventing infectious diseases, Yen Bai province is implementing an expanded immunization plan across the province, aiming for high coverage and absolute safety for children, pregnant women, and high-risk groups.

Yen Bai strives to achieve a measles–rubella vaccination coverage rate of over 95%.

Accordingly, in 2025, Yen Bai sets the target of fully vaccinating at least 98.5% of children under one year of age across the province, in order to continue protecting the achievements in polio eradication and neonatal tetanus elimination. This plan is part of the Expanded Program on Immunization directed by the Ministry of Health.

In addition, the province aims to administer the hepatitis B vaccine within 24 hours after birth to 95% of newborns; achieve 95% coverage for the rotavirus, measles–rubella, Japanese encephalitis, diphtheria–pertussis–tetanus (DPT), and tetanus–diphtheria (Td) vaccines for 7-year-old children. For pregnant women, the tetanus vaccination rate is expected to reach at least 97%.

In 2025, the province plans to administer vaccinations to 11,647 children under one year of age, 12,017 children aged 18 months, 16,337 children aged 7, and 11,417 pregnant women. The vaccinations will be carried out at 180 fixed immunization sites including hospitals, district health centers, and commune health stations.

Newborns in remote and mountainous areas will receive the hepatitis B vaccine at home, provided safety conditions are met according to current regulations.

Routine immunization activities will be held monthly, incorporating catch-up and supplementary doses for individuals who have not been vaccinated or have not completed the required doses. At the same time, Yen Bai will continue to maintain the administration of the hepatitis B vaccine within 24 hours of birth at all medical facilities that meet the necessary conditions.

The province will also focus on communication efforts to raise public awareness about the benefits of vaccination, ensuring that 100% of parents, guardians, and pregnant women have full access to information.

In the first four months of the year, the province recorded 3,831 out of 11,647 children under one year of age receiving full vaccinations, reaching 32.9%—higher than the planned target. The hepatitis B birth dose coverage reached 24%; two doses of the rotavirus vaccine, 24%; measles–rubella, 40.3%; second dose of Japanese encephalitis vaccine, 30.2%; third dose, 25.9%; DPT vaccine, 33.2%.
