Dao, the winner of the second prize in history in the National Excellent Student Competition 2023, was born and raised in a family with extremely difficult circumstances as her father has been suffering from hemiplegia and unable to work and her brother was born with congenital disorders, leaving her mother as the breadwinner of the family. After school, Dao always tries to help her mother to take care of the family.

Born in the same hometown, Thu is a Dao ethnic student whose parents only work in the field. She did not have the same conditions to study as her peers but nurture a great passion for history. Besides reading books, she also actively broadens her knowledge through reference materials, teachers and friends. Those efforts have helped Thu win the third prize in the same competition with Dao.

Besides efforts of the two students, supports and companionship of their teacher, Pham Thi Hong, of Class 12 A5 who is a history lecturer at Chu Van High School also played an important role in the students' excellent achievements. Not only helping them with materials and financial supports over the past years, she has also inspired the students about the love for history with attractive teaching methods to enliven the lessons.
