On has had a strong attachment to students in the mountainous area for many years. It is the studiousness of local students that has energised the young teacher who always strives to successfully complete all of his tasks. On said: "Many children live in very difficult family circumstances but still try hard to study. Seeing them like this, I feel that I have to work harder and have more responsibility.”

Enthusiastic in his work, On has taught students interesting geography lessons, which have helped nurture their passion of going to school.

His initiative "Organising practical creative experiences for students through grade-12 geography" being applied at Tram Tau High School is an example. Through experiential activities, the teacher has inspired students, and helped them understand and absorb lessons faster.

In addition, he has actively applied information technology, and made teaching tools himself to serve his teaching, making each lecture more attractive.

Teacher Do Thanh Cong, Principal of Tram Tau High School, said that as a good teacher at the provincial level, On is always humble, enthusiastic and devoted to students. He has many initiatives and solutions recognised at provincial competitions, contributing to improving the quality of education.

With the desire to make more devotions, On is always active and enthusiastic in the youth union work with many exciting activities attracting the participation of a large number of youth union members and students.

Specifically, he has organised visits to revolution-related places, and activities to support students during major exams; provided free teaching for 12th graders in preparation for high school graduation exams; and held voluntary blood donation programmes. Last year, he organised a ‘chung cake’ (square glutinous rice cake) and ‘day cake’ (round glutinous rice cake) making contest. After that, more than 1,000 chung cakes were given to students living in difficult circumstances.

In 2022, the teacher was honoured as an outstanding young intellectual at the provincial level by the Vietnam Youth Federation. He is among the 100 Youth Union members nationwide receiving the 2023 Ly Tu Trong Awards. This is a noble award presented by the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union to outstanding youth union members with excellent achievements in labour, profession, youth union work and youth movements.
