Since July 2022, the provincial Lung Hospital has adopted the technique of flexible bronchoscopy, which has provided high efficiency in diagnosis, prognosis and treatment. At the same time, the hospital has kept updating the treatment protocol for asthma-chronic obstructive pulmonary disease in accordance with the guidance of the Central Lung Hospital, conducted teleconsultations with the Central Lung Hospital and the provincial General Hospital for difficult cases and patients with multiple underlying diseases to continuously improve treatment quality, shorten hospital stay, limit transfers to other hospitals and increase the cure rate for patients.

This year, the hospital plans to partner with the Central Lung Hospital to provide examinations, consultation and disease management for asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) patients throughout the province while also adopting 11 new techniques to better serve patients.

Bach Xuan Thuy, Director of the provincial Lung Hospital, said under the direct guidance of the Department of Health and the National Tuberculosis Control Programme to end tuberculosis by 2030, the hospital will partner with the districts' medical centres to conduct community screening for high-risk groups using the 2X strategy (X-ray and X-pert), with the assistance of bronchoscopy and Gene Xpert testing technologies to early detect all tuberculosis cases , including latent tuberculosis for management and treatment.

For treatment, the hospital will ensure proper control of all cases, strictly adhere to the correct protocol for combined drug therapy, correct medication, sufficient dosage, and treatment evaluation every month to prevent drug-resistant tuberculosis. In addition to pulmonary and pleural tuberculosis, the hospital also has specific plans to detect, manage, and treat extra-pulmonary tuberculosis, tuberculosis co-infected with HIV, tuberculosis in children and in patients with chronic underlying diseases.
