Yen Bai determined to prevent COVID-19

YBO - Recently, localities, departments, organisations and authorities of Yen Bai have shown active efforts in COVID-19 pandemic prevention and control work.

Right after the third wave of the pandemic hit the country with the hotspot being the northern province of Hai Duong, the provincial Party Committee and People’s Committee as well as the Steering Committee on COVID-19 Prevention and Control issued timely directive documents.

Along with the strengthening of communications in mass media and through the whole political system, the provincial Department of Health released daily press release to provide information and detailed guidelines to locals on preventive measures against the pandemic.

The province has cancelled all plans of organising firework shows on the Lunar New Year Eve as well as cultural, art and sports activities to welcome the New Year. Dozens of Spring festivals in localities have been shortened with rituals limited in temples and pagodas without festive activities to avoid gathering of a large number of people, thus strictly implementing pandemic preventive measures.

Local authorities have focused on reminding local residents to wash hands and strictly implement measures such as wearing facemask, keeping safe distance in entertainment facilities and places for belief and religious practice.



Local authorities collect medical health declarations from people returning Yen Bai from other localities at the IC-12 connection point in Noi Bai-Lao Cai Expressway.

Since January 28, the province has re-set up nine medical checkpoints along roads into Yen Bai. From January 29 to February 19, authorities at the checkpoints examined body temperature and processed medical declarations for 237,949 people, while spraying disinfectants on 80,365 vehicles.

The provincial health sector has formed tracing groups for the revision, management and quarantine of people returning Yen Bai from other localities, especially Hai Duong and Quang Ninh.

As of February 18, 3,578 people coming to Yen Bai from Hai Duong, Quang Ninh and pandemic-hit localities in accordance to notice from the Ministry of Health were reviewed, put on quarantine and tested for COVID-19 in line with regulations./.

So far, Yen Bai has detected no COVID-19 cases.
