  •  Monday, March 13, 2023

YBO - Yen Bai’s happiness index is measured following three criteria – people’s life satisfaction, living environment, and people’s longevity. There are four factors for the assessment of life satisfaction - satisfaction with economic conditions; relationships in family and society; policies on social security, social welfare and contact with public authorities.

In order to build criteria for its happiness index to 2025, the provincial Party Committee directed its Commission for Information and Education to conduct a sociological survey on the happiness index of people in the province using a formula based on three criteria of life satisfaction, average life expectancy and the level of satisfaction with the living environment. Following this formula, the happiness index of Yen Bai people was 53.3% in 2020 and 62.57% in 2022, 1.37% higher that the locality’s target for the year.

In order to increase the happiness index, in the time to come, the province will apply measures to effectively implement socio-economic development policies rolled out by the Party, States and the province, especially those related to ethnic minority groups and support to vulnerable groups, thus enhancing the economic and material conditions of locals, and narrowing the income gap among people in different classes.

At the same time, Yen Bai will speed up the building of new-style rural areas, promoting fast and sustainable poverty reduction, especially in far-flung areas. Meanwhile, the province will continue to develop the infrastructure system, creating favourable conditions for local residents to engage in optimising the internal strengths, potential and advantages of each locality and boosting production.

Yen Bai will also associate economic growth with the building and development of local culture and people with a motto of "friendliness, humanity, solidarity, creativity and integration”. The movement of all people joining hands in building cultural life will be strengthened in association with the building of new-style rural areas and civilised urban areas as well as the campaign to build happy families.

Yen Bai will take steps to effectively realise social welfare policies, ensuring that all people have equal rights and obligations in healthcare insurance and enjoy healthcare services. The locality will build a healthy social environment, while preventing and combating social evils, maintaining political stability as well as social order and safety.
