Education universalisation, illiteracy eradication - impressive achievements of Yen Bai

YBO - Determining education universalisation and illiteracy eradication as important tasks to contribute to promoting local socio-economic development, over the past years, Yen Bai province has actively implemented concerted measures to maintain and improve the quality of education universalisation at all levels.

In 2015, Yen Bai province fulfilled the target of universalising preschool education for 5-year-old children, while the rate of children aged 3-5 entering kindergarten reached 85.7%, and 5-year-old children mobilised to go to class hit 98.6%.

At present, preschool education universalisation has been maintained and improved in all of its nine district-level units and 100% of commune-level units. The province has 179 preschools, with 92.7% of children aged 3-5 going to class.

The quality of education improves gradually, as children are cared for, nurtured and educated in accordance with the preschool education programme.

Yen Bai province was recognised by the Ministry of Education and Training as meeting the standards of secondary education universalisation in 2007, and primary school universalisation at the right age at Level 1 in March 2010.

In 2022, Yen Bai province is recognised as meeting the standards of primary education universalisation at Level 3. The rate of 6-year-old children entering the first grade reaches 99.97%, while that of children entering the sixth grade is 99.8%.

The education and training sector has focused on training a contingent of teachers and educational administrators, ensuring sufficient teachers, increasing investment in perfecting the school system, accelerating the building of national-standard schools, bettering boarding and semi-boarding high schools for ethnic minority students.

In addition, the province has mobilised all social resources to develop the network of schools, upgrade facilities, supplement teaching and learning materials and equipment in the direction of standardisation and modernisation to serve education universalisation. At present, 100% of the educational institutions in the province have connected to the Internet to serve the management and expansion in teaching activities; and 293 out of the 444 schools meet national standards, reaching 66%./.
