War veterans of Yen Bai city lead good examples

YBO - The War Veterans’ Association of Yen Bai city consists of 16 chapters with 127 branches and 5,886 members at present.

Continuing to dedicate their efforts and wisdom to local development, members of the association are running 28 small - and medium-sized enterprises, two of which earn more than 50 billion VND (over 2.1 million USD) in annual revenue each, and seven others over 10 billion VND. They are also operating 77 production and business cooperative groups and 11 farms. As many as 1,288 veterans’ households are also engaging in business activities.

Those businesses, cooperative groups and business households are creating jobs for more than 5,600 workers.

The association also established a club of war veteran entrepreneurs with 26 members which has helped more veterans become role models in livelihood development.

It has increased communications to encourage members to take part in social activities. Over the last five years, its members have coordinated with local authorities to build 12 houses worth over 120 million VND for disadvantaged people, donated more than 224 million VND to the Fund for the Poor and another 91 million VND to the members who are Agent Orange victims, and given nearly 700 million VND in donation to pandemic-hit households and other social activities.

Making use of funding from different sources, the association has helped upgrade 60 houses for low-income and disadvantaged members during the period.


One of its outstanding activities is that veteran members have actively participated in the movements of "All people stay united to build new-style rural areas and civilised cities”, "Exemplary war veterans”, and "Whole country makes joint efforts to build new-style rural areas”. In particular, they have invested efforts to help their localities meet advanced and model new-style countryside criteria.

They have also encouraged their relatives to donate 9,200sq.m. of land and coordinated with relevant parties to build 68km of roads linking villages, thus helping fulfill advanced and model new-style rural area criteria.

Besides, in the five years, the association has worked with local socio-political organisations and schools to organise 287 sessions to help educate young people on revolutionary traditions and inspire their patriotism, self-reliance and will to move forwards.

War veterans of Yen Bai city have stayed united, upheld the traditions of "Uncle Ho’s soldiers”, and actively participated in the Party and State building and the consolidation of the great national unity.

Among its members, 111 were elected secretaries or vice secretaries of Party cells, 11 elected secretaries or vice secretaries of grassroots Party organisations, and 72 chosen to serve as deputies of People’s Councils at different levels.

In their positions, the war veterans have always fulfilled their assigned tasks and actively submitted proposals to join Party committees and administrations in successfully realising socio-economic development targets and building a comprehensively strong political system.

In response to Directive No. 10 dated March 25, 2025, issued by the Prime Minister on promoting the development of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), Yen Bai Province has set a target of establishing at least 5,000 enterprises by the end of 2030.

Recently in Hanoi, Vinacore International Consulting, Services and Trading joint Stock Company, in collaboration with the Employment Service Center under the Department of Home Affairs of Yen Bai Province, organized a departure ceremony for 14 workers from Yen Bai to work in Japan under a placement program managed by Yamazaki Vietnam Co., Ltd.

In 2025, Yen Bai Province is prioritizing the implementation of labour export consulting activities, vocational training in combination with foreign language education, and support programs aimed at facilitating overseas employment for local workers.
