Yen Bai reviews project on rearrangement of schools, classrooms for 2016-20

YBO - A conference reviewing a project on rearrangement of schools and classrooms in Yen Bai province for the 2016-20 period was organised by the Yen Bai People’s Committee.

It is among the province’s most important projects in the education-training sector in the 2015-20 term.

Prior to its implementation, Yen Bai is home to 530 schools and 765 satellite sites located in villages and residential areas. The province has to date reduced the figures to 130 and 478, respectively, streamlining 1,985 job positions while the number of students going to class surged to 20,482.

Of note, more than 10,000 semi-boarding students have gained access to the State’s support, thereby easing difficulties for tens of thousands of families residing in mountainous and ethnic regions. 

In the 2016-20 term, Yen Bai carried out 435 sub-projects with total investment of 735.4 billion VND (31.63 million USD). Education establishments under the project received assistance worth nearly 60 billion VND from organisations and donors. 

Meanwhile, 122 classrooms and 494 dorm rooms were built and teaching and learning facilities provided for semi-boarding students thanks to donations from social sources.

On the occasion, 15 collectives and 15 individuals with outstanding performance in the implementation of the project in kindergartens and general schools in the 2016-20 period were honoured.

Nghia Lo Ethnic Minority Boarding Vocational School is among the most reputable vocational training institutions in the province.

In 2025, the province has set a target to create employment for 20,000 workers, with a trained labor rate reaching 70.2%. Of this, the proportion of workers receiving training for three months or longer and obtaining certificates or diplomas is expected to reach 40.1%. Additionally, Yen Bai aims to recruit and train 18,000 new vocational trainees and transition 7,000 workers from agricultural to non-agricultural sectors.

Yen Bai intensifies career counseling, guidance, and activities to provide information and raise awareness about labor export initiatives.

In 2024, Yen Bai province sent 114 workers to South Korea under the Work Permit Program for foreign workers and the pilot program for sending seasonal workers to South Korea, which is part of the cooperative efforts between localities of the two countries.

Yen Bai City aims to complete 56 targets outlined in its Digital Transformation Plan for 2025. The city has committed to mobilizing all available resources and implementing synchronized solutions under the motto: “Innovation, Creativity, Determination, Discipline, Efficiency.”
