US war veteran presents 20 million VND to Yen Bai

YBO - William Hubert, a 95-year-old US war veteran, has presented 20 million VND (851 USD) to help Yen Bai fight the COVID-19 pandemic and build houses for revolutionary contributors and needy people.

Hubert, who fought during the war in Vietnam, has acknowledged war consequences. The man asked the provincial Fatherland Front Committee to hand over his donation to the residents. 

He returned to Vietnam three times, with the latest in 2018, and said he hopes to come back to the country one more time.

The veteran expressed his hope that Vietnamese at home and abroad will continue to work together in order to heal war wounds left from the previous century, and stamp out COVID-19, towards peace and development.
