With the significant benefits brought by the pilot program for sending workers to South Korea for seasonal work, localities in the province have recently paid more attention and created favorable conditions for residents to have opportunities to work temporarily in South Korea. This has contributed to job creation and increased incomes for the local population.

Under the pilot program for sending workers to work seasonally in South Korea through cooperation between localities of both countries, in 2024, the districts of Yen Binh, Tran Yen, Luc Yen, and Van Chan signed memorandums of understanding with South Korean localities such as Wando District, Goheung County in Jeollanam Province, and Cheongsong County in Gyeongsangbuk-do Province for seasonal labor exchange in the agricultural and fisheries sectors. Initially, 25 workers have been selected, trained, and contracted to work seasonally in South Korea.

In addition, under the Employment Permit System (EPS) program for foreign workers, in 2024, Yen Bai Province sent 89 workers to work in South Korea. The workers are employed in five industries: manufacturing, construction, agriculture, fisheries, and shipbuilding. They receive full wages and insurance benefits equivalent to those of local workers, with the current minimum wage set at 36 million VND, excluding overtime pay.

The labor dispatch work under the EPS Program is assigned by the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs to the Center for Overseas Labor (COL) in coordination with the Human Resources Development Service of Korea (HRD) and implemented in collaboration with localities for the selection of workers. Sending workers from Yen Bai Province to work in South Korea under non-profit programs like the EPS not only reduces costs, creates jobs, increases income, and improves the living standards of workers and their families but also contributes to enhancing the quality of the labor force and skills upon their return, supporting local economic and social development.
