YBO - Facing impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, which directly affects the consumption market of processed agricultural products, relevant sectors and enterprises in Yen Bai province have made great efforts in searching new markets through e-commerce platforms.

YBO - By the end of August, the total revenue of commercial and service establishments in Yen Bai city reached over 9.4 trillion VND, up 637 billion VND over the same period last year.

YBO - The fourth wave of COVID-19 pandemic has been causing large-scale impacts, thus hindering the sale of advantageous products of enterprises in the province such as pressed wood, tea, tapioca starch, porcelain insulators and stone powder. The endurance of local enterprises operating in tourism, catering, accommodation and transportation has also reached their limits when they have to suffer long-lasting, smoldering negative impacts.

YBO - Van Chan district of Yen Bai province harvested over 25,000 tonnes of tea buds in the first seven months of 2021, a surge by 700 tonnes compared to the same period last year.

YBO - In recent years, farmers in Yen Bai province have invested in clean agriculture using organic fertilizers and limiting the use of pesticides, thus contributing to protecting the health of both producers and consumers, and the environment as well.

YBO - Thanks to the drastic implementation of the national target programme on sustainable poverty reduction for 2016 - 2020, the household poverty rate in Yen Bai province was brought down to 7.04 percent last year, while the rate among ethnic minority households has dropped by 7.66 percent annually on average.

Despite negative impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, 2,728 out of the total 4,382 poor families in Yen Bai province successfully escaped from poverty in the first seven months of the year, hitting 62.25 percent of the year’s plan.

YBO - As COVID-19 is causing extreme difficulties to Hoang Lien Son Technical Ceramics JSC, its managers and workers have been strictly observing pandemic prevention rules set by the government and provincial authorities and regularly disinfecting its factories to safely maintain production.

YBO - The coordination in growing chilli for export between enterprises and farmers in Thanh Luong commune of Nghia Lo town has proved fruitful, helping raise local residents’ income.

YBO - Ngu banana of the Trung Thanh organic agriculture service cooperative in Yen Hop commune has been recognized as a three-star “One Commune-One Product” (OCOP) product.

YBO - The Department of Industry and Trade of Yen Bai province, in coordination with the Vietnam Trade Promotion Agency (Vietrade) under the Ministry of Industry and Trade have organised an online conference to guide and support local enterprises in selling their products on e-commerce platform Alibaba.com.

YBO - Yen Bai authorities issued new registration licences for 147 businesses in the first six months while 24 enterprises were dissolved and 260 others stopped operations. Currently, there are 2,537 enterprises operating in the province.

YBO - In 2021, Van Chan district in Yen Bai province is assigned to build 60km of rural roads, with a total estimated capital of 100 billion VND, 50 percent of which will be contributed by locals in the form of working days, construction materials, and machinery. To date, the district has completed 51 percent of the assigned plan.

YBO - Van Chan district is home to 4,490 ha of tea, including over 4,000 ha for commercial purpose. At present, Lien Son farm township has the largest tea area in Van Chan district with 500 ha.

YBO - Despite a wide range of difficulties caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, Yen Bai province successfully realised the dual goal in the first half of 2021. Many socio-economic criteria have exceeded 50 percent of the set targets and seen increases compared to the same period last year.

YBO - Yen Bai's climate and soil are suitable for growing Macadamia tree, especially the province's eastern districts such as Van Chan, Tram Tau, Mu Cang Chai.

YBO - Export firms in Yen Bai have managed to maintain operations and devise plans to cope with the ravaging COVID-19 although the pandemic has dealt a blow to all socio-economic aspects and is predicted to persist until the end of Q2.

YBO - Businesses, distributors, large agents specializing in supplying food and foodstuff and essential goods in Yen Bai have been directed to stock up on goods serving natural disaster search and rescue work in the locality.
