One of the outstanding roads in Yen Bai city is Au Co road that connects the city with the Noi Bai-Lao Cai Expressway – an economic corridor of the whole midland and northwestern mountainous region. The four-lane Au Co road, named after the national legendary Mother, has a length of 10km and crosses Red River.
From this road, travellers can reach Au Co Temple in Hien Luong (Phu Tho province) and Van Hoi Lake - a well - known ecotourism site with Mon canal where Mother Au Co and her children once visited.
Km5 central road connects with Nguyen Tat Thanh street in Yen Bai city.
In the autumn of 1958, the former Yen Bai town (now Yen Bai city), welcomed President Ho Chi Minh. Memories on the great national leader have still been kept by each resident. A road was named after Nguyen Tat Thanh (a name used by President Ho Chi Minh), which connects Yen Bai downtown with the gateway district of Yen Binh.
Along with the roads named after the country's well-known figures such as Dinh Tien Hoang, Quang Trung, Ly Thuong Kiet, Dien Bien, Tran Phu, and Nguyen Quang Bich, the city has many streets with their names reminding those who contributed to Yen Bai's historic tradition, including Nguyen Thai Hoc street which connects Hong Ha and Nguyen Thai Hoc wards. Nguyen Thai Hoc, the leader of Vietnam Nationalist Party, led the Yen Bai uprising in February 1930, which had a profound effect on the national liberation movement at that time.
The road passes Yen Hoa Lake and Yen Hoa Park where a stature and commemoration house dedicated to Nguyen Thai Hoc and his soldiers are located.
Starting from August 19 Square to Nam Cuong crossroad, Yen Ninh street was one of the contestants of the "Most beautiful roads of Vietnam” contest. Yen Ninh street is also a symbol of the twinned relations between Yen Bai and south central Ninh Thuan province, highlighting their mutual support during the war as well as the current national construction and development.
Yen Bai is also home to many romantic roads along the banks of the Red River as well as beautiful bridges such as Bac Lam, Tuan Quan and Van Phu.
The connection of old and new roads in Yen Bai is like the continuation of traditional culture and desires of locals in rising with the whole nation to build a homeland of happiness and prosperity.
