The Labour Federation of Yen Bai province has coordinated with the Phu Tho General Medical Centre to provide free health checkups for 30 members who are in difficult circumstances, and halved fees of post-COVID-19 medical examination for 230 others, with total funding worth over 92 million VND.
It has also partnered with Hoa Binh Co., Ltd to offer motorbike maintenance services free of charge to 100 employees, and present 100 million VND to two trade union members to help them with house construction.
The federation has instructed grassroots trade union organisations to intensify the assessment and control of occupational safety and hygiene, and maintained harmonious business relations.
Doan Van Lieu, trade union vice chairman of Yen Bai forestry product processing and business joint stock company, said despite pandemic impacts, the company’s workers have their legal and legitimate rights ensured.
This year, the Labour Federation of Nghia Lo town has coordinated with a local general hospital to provide health checkups and consultations for 90 labourers of Chien Thang-Nghia Lo Limited Liability Company.
Ngoc Thi Luong, a trade union member of the company, said she and others disadvantaged workers have never intended to take post-pandemic health examination, adding that the programme helps labourers feel secure.
Chairwoman of the Labour Federation Le Thi Hong Nga said her federation has asked grassroots trade union organisations to coordinate with the company in supervising the observation of occupational safety and hygiene regulations and raising public awareness of the matter, contributing to reducing occupational accident and diseases, improving working conditions and providing health care for labourers.

During the workers’ month, also the month of action for occupational safety and hygiene, the organisation has handed over houses to and visited disadvantaged labourers.
Vice Chairman of Yen Bai province’s Labour Federation Phan Huy Cuong said his federation earmarked in May 285 million VND to help seven poor members build houses, and presented 250 gifts to others. Fourteen female members have also got loans worth 280 million VND to do household business.
