A graduate from the Hanoi College of Commerce and Tourism, Pham Ngoc Anh Tu in Yen Binh township of Yen Binh district, did not seek jobs immediately but applied to voluntarily join military service.
Tu said as a young people and a citizen, he also has the responsibility for helping safeguard the Fatherland. Qualified for military service, he feels happy and proud, and he will study and train hard to become a good soldier.
For 2022, Yen Binh district was assigned to recruit 155 citizens for the armed forces. Its localities have completed the recruitment, which was also combined with the creation of the military reserves force.
Sen. Lt. Col. Nguyen Van Hoan, deputy head of the Yen Binh Military Command, said the recruitment has been completed, and the citizens qualified for military service have received their recruitment orders. All of them expressed their delight and readiness to join the armed forces.
To improve the recruitment quality, the provincial military service council has issued a resolution on the recruitment, requested localities to step up surveying the citizens in the age group subject to military service, coordinated with relevant agencies to verify the eligible but absent persons, and increased encouraging locals to comply with the Law on Military Service.
It has also demanded localities in Yen Bai to press on with disseminating the law so that people fully understand their responsibility towards national defence. In particular, the good communications and care for soldiers’ families have created further encouragement for new recruits and their families.
Col. Nguyen Quoc Trieu, deputy head of the provincial Military Command, said the quality of new recruits this year is basically higher than in previous years in terms of educational level and health. More than 96 percent of the new recruits are aged 18 - 23, over 65 percent have Health Level 1 or 2, about 97 percent graduated from junior and senior high schools, and over 2 percent graduated from universities or colleges. Among them, 152 applied to voluntarily join the armed forces.
So far, localities across the province have made thorough preparations, with anti-pandemic measures seriously carried out, so as to ensure safety for the recruit hand-over ceremonies slated for February 18.
