Hoang Van Liem named among 63 outstanding Vietnamese farmers in 2021

YBO - Hoang Van Liem, residing in Yen Binh district’s Xuan Lai commune, was among the 63 outstanding Vietnamese farmers honoured at a ceremony on December 2.

Born in 1986, Liem is now director of the Thien An services cooperative in Xuan Lai, which operates mainly in the raising and trade of buffalos and cows for breeding and for meat.

Established in July 2019, the ten-member cooperative has gained a foothold in the market. It raises and sells 1,500 buffalos and cows each year, generating an average profit of 150 million VND (6,507 USD) per member a year.

In addition to animal husbandry, Liem’s family is keeping 10ha of forest, mostly Eucalyptus, creating jobs for 10 labours with an average monthly wage of 4.5 million VND per person. Each harvest season, the forest brings about more than 600 million VND for his family.

The 63 outstanding farmers of 2021 do business in crop cultivation, animal husbandry, fishery, production-processing-services, digital transformation and rural development, among others.

Recently, Yen Bai province has faced concerning reproductive health statistics, with the pregnancy rate among women aged 15-19 reaching 15.5% in Mu Cang Chai district and 9.6% in Van Chan district. Home births remain prevalent, with 63.1% occurring in Mu Cang Chai and 13.5% in Van Chan.
