Public awareness of the drug combat has been improved thanks to the stronger popularisation of the Party’s guidelines and the State’s policies and laws on drug prevention and control, as well as information about the harms of drugs to users’ families and the society.

The public security force has stepped up crackdowns on drug crime, done a good job of drug crime prevention, and involved the private sector in drug prevention and control from the grassroots level.

In the first nine months of 2021, tens of cases of illegal drug trafficking, storage, and use were uncovered while dozens of persons involved in those cases were prosecuted.

The effective communication work has resulted in many effective models and wide spread movements, attracting a large number of local residents. Some of those movements have called on the public to fight against and denounce drug-related crimes; encouraged hamlets, villages, residential areas, communes, wards, townships, agencies, schools, and businesses to strive to stay free of crimes, drugs, and social vices; and promoted community-based drug rehabilitation.

Meanwhile, women’s unions have shown good performance in educating children and turning each family into a "strong fortress” against social crimes.

Farmers’ unions at all levels have also increased communications to encourage their members to take part in the combat against drugs and other crimes.

Local chapters of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union have brought into play their role in building communes free of young drug addicts - a movement implemented province-wide and attracting great support from local young people.

In addition, relevant agencies and many communes, wards, and townships have maintained cooperation to encourage all people to assist drug addicts during the rehabilitation process. Forms of drug detoxification and job provision for former addicts have also been diversified to improve effectiveness, helping relevant forces to promote the fight against drug-related crimes in rural areas.
