
YBO - In addition to attracting hundreds of thousands of tourists to explore the natural landscape and resort destinations every year, Mu Cang Chai in the northern mountainous province of Yen Bai is also an attractive destination for a large number of holiday-makers who want to experience local cultural and religious activities.

YBO - To resume tourism activities in the post-pandemic period, Yen Bai’s Luc Yen district has built ‘safe and friendly destinations’ and fully reopened to tourists.

YBO - Remote but beautiful, Tram Tau in Yen Bai province features a rough mountainous terrain and is home to a large number of Viet Nam’s ethnic minorities. Despite being off the beaten path, the locality is growing its sustainable ecotourism base.

YBO - Located at an altitude of nearly 1,400 metres above sea level, Suoi Giang has a cool climate year-round. Average temperatures are perhaps 8-10 degrees Celsius lower than in places such as Van Chan district and Nghia Lo town. On any given day in Suoi Giang, visitors may enjoy a cool night, floating clouds in the morning when they awake, and clear skies and breezes in the afternoon as golden sunshine bathes the hillsides. YBO - Early last week, the People’s Committee of Yen Bai held a conference to promote the province as a safe, friendly, unique, appealing and impressive destination, with the participation of more than 70 local tourism operators and those of other localities.

YBO - So far, four key tourism zones in Yen Bai province have taken shape, namely the zone of Thac Ba Reservoir and the Chay River; the zone of Yen Bai city and its vicinity; the zone in the west of the province, consisting Van Chan, Tram Tau, and Mu Cang Chai districts and Nghia Lo town; and the zone of Tran Yen and Van Yen districts.

YBO - As a gift of the nature, Mu Cang Chai honey has many colours, such as rice and mustard flower honey is yellow, docynia indica bloom honey is dark brown, and Cardamom flower honey is dark red.

YBO - Lung Cung hamlet in Nam Co commune, Mu Cang Chai district, is now blanketed in while medlar (“son tra” or “tao meo”) flowers.

Pung Luong commune of Mu Cang Chai district becomes more beautiful every February and early March, when white pear blossoms are in full bloom.

YBO - Thirty-five households in Nghia Lo town of Yen Bai province are fruitfully engaging in community-based tourism, and 12 of them have joined the Muong Lo Tourism Cooperative. Implementing the “One Commune, One Product” (OCOP) programme, the cooperative has helped raise the star ranking of community-based tourism products in Nghia An and Nghia Loi communes.

Tram Tau hot spring and eco-tourism area is an attractive destination in Yen Bai province. It boasts an open-air natural hot spring near an agricultural production area in Na Tham hamlet in Tram Tau town of Tram Tau district.

YBO - Mu Cang Chai district in Yen Bai province is scheduled to receive a certificate recognising its terraced rice fields as a special national relic site, and another recognising the New Rice Festival of local Mong people as national intangible cultural heritage on December 31.

YBO - Setting foot in Phuc An commune of Yen Binh district, the first thing visitors can feel here is that this is a tranquil rural area with friendly and hospitable people. Local residents earn their living mainly from fishing and weaving shrimp traps, which are also interesting experiences that travellers should not miss once coming to this place.

YBO - Khau Pha Pass in Mu Cang Chai district, the northern mountainous province of Yen Bai, is an attractive destination. The pass stuns travelers with its beautiful and poetic scenery, where high mountains stand on one side and the other side is a deep valley covered with fluffy white clouds around the year.

YBO - Ta Chi Nhu peak in Tram Tau district has an altitude of 2,979m above sea level. It is part of the Pu Luong massif of the Hoang Lien Son mountain range. The peak, which is shrouded in a sea of clouds, has become an attractive destination for those who love climbing and adventure travel.

YBO - Muong Lai has been a popular name in the Vietnamese revolution with the formation of the “Le Loi anti-Japanese revolutionary base” and “Co Lai guerrilla troop” – the first revolutionary armed forces set up in Yen Bai’s Luc Yen district.

YBO - Located at a height of nearly 1,400m above the sea level, Suoi Giang has a cool weather around the year. The average temperature in the area is lower than the rest of Van Tran district and Nghia Lo township by 8-10 degrees Celsius.

YBO - Autumn is the harvesting season of “tao meo” (also known as son tra (Docynia indica, a kind of pome) – a specialty fruit in the Northwestern mountainous region. In Yen Bai, tao meo is mostly cultivated in Mu Cang Chai and Tram Tau districts.

YBO - Mu Cang Chai terraced field run is a race for marathon lovers. They can challenge themselves across wild and harsh mountain passes and peaceful villages lying on high mountains, while getting immersed in the fresh air, the nature, and the aroma of ripening rice at the special national relic site of Mu Cang Chai terraced fields in Yen Bai province.

YBO - Amid the complicated developments of COVID-19 pandemic, in order to protect the “green zone” status for the province, Yen Bai has restricted locals from traveling outside the locality as well as people from other localities from entering the province. Many local families have chosen to visit sites in the province to ensure safety and enjoy their vacations in weekends.

YBO - La Pan Tan tray-shaped hill is located about 8km from the centre of Mu Cang Chai district. It is about 1000 – 1600 metres above sea level. The name of the hill might result from the fact that it looks like a tray.

YBO - Nghia Lo town of Yen Bai province has launched a contest to seek designs of tourism symbol for the town.

YBO - Luc Yen district has set targets to develop green tourism into an important economic sector, create various quality tourism products and become one of the province’s outstanding destinations in the 2020-25, thereby building the brand of “Luc Yen-where colours converge”.
