Over 1,500 athletes participate in Yen Bai’s 11th Phu Dong Sports Festival

YBO - The 11th Phu Dong Sports Festival of Yen Bai province from January 20-25 attracted over 1,500 athletes representing nine education and training departments and 28 units under the provincial Department of Education and Training.

During the festival, athletes completed in nine events, namely tug of war, badminton, table tennis, athletics, stick pushing, high school volleyball, shuttlecock, chess, and elementary school football.

At the closing ceremony of the festival held on January 25, a total of 127 sets of medals were awarded including 227 gold, 227 silver, and 411 bronze medals, and on-the-spot awards for winning teams and individuals.

The festival's organising board awarded prizes and flags to 19 delegations with excellent achievements at the festival. The delegation from the Department of Education and Training of Yen Bai City and the delegation from the provincial Ethnic Boarding High School got the top prizes.

The Phu Dong sports festival was held to maintain and promote the movement "All people do exercises following the great example of Uncle Ho” and the one to promote physical education and sports among the young generation, students, and schools in the province. The festival also helps select talented students to participate in the regional and national festivals in 2024./.
