Youths nationwide respond to Youth Month 2020

A wide variety of practical activities were held nationwide in response to Youth Month 2020, looking towards the 89th founding anniversary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (March 26, 1931-2020).

The Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (HCYU) Central Committee announced on March 23 that the national ceremony marking its 89th founding anniversary and the awards ceremony for the Ly Tu Trong Award will not be held on March 23-24 as scheduled.

The HCYU Central Committee authorised the youth unions in provinces and cities to present the awards to outstanding collectives and individuals.

* The Thai Nguyen Provincial Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union launched a campaign to support the Covid-19 prevention and control. Within the programme, members from the HCYU, the Youth Federation, the Union of Students and the Young Entrepreneurs Association, among others in the province, donated a total of over VND130 million, 300 sets of hospital beds and over 3,000 face masks.

* Earlier, on March 22, the Vietnam National Union of Students (VNUS) Central Committee, in collaboration with the Vietnam Youth Federation Central Committee, held an online conference with their branches in the foreign countries, including the UK, France, Germany, Belgium, Austria, the Netherlands and the Republic of Korea.

The delegates informed each other on the situation regarding Covid-19 outbreak in the countries and Vietnam as well as the postponement of the sixth Vietnam Youth and Student Festival in Europe to 2021.

* A delegation of the HCYU Central Committee worked with the Cuban Embassy in Vietnam in Hanoi yesterday, discussing activities to boost cooperation between Vietnamese and Cuban youths.

The two sides agreed to facilitate high-level visits and launch a painting contest and cultural exchanges. The HCMCYU delegation will pay a working trip to Cuba to discuss further deepening ties between the two countries’ youths and holding cultural and sports activities for Vietnamese and Cuban youths living in Vietnam.
