YBO - Recognizing infrastructure as a crucial factor in attracting investment and boosting production, Yen Bai Province is taking bold action to remove bottlenecks and expedite the construction of key energy and industrial projects-paving the way for a major breakthrough in its industry and trade sectors.

The province is implementing a plan to provide electricity to highland villages that remain off-grid in the districts of Tram Tau, Mu Cang Chai, Van Chan, and Van Yen, in line with its 2025 target.

Yen Bai’s Department of Industry and Trade is actively coordinating and directing relevant agencies to accelerate the progress of several critical infrastructure projects. Notably, for the 500kV Lao Cai – Vinh Yen transmission line (passing through the province), monitoring and reporting on project implementation is being carried out closely and regularly.

In addition, other medium- and high-voltage power grid projects, such as the 220kV double-circuit line connecting to the 220kV Bac Quang substation (through Yen Bai), and the upgrade of the 110kV transmission line from the 220kV Yen Bai substation to the 110kV Yen Bai substation, are also being pushed toward early completion to enhance the region’s electricity transmission capacity. Meanwhile, Phase II of the rural electrification project from the national grid (2014–2025) is being expedited.

The province is focused on completing construction packages in 2024 and implementing electricity supply plans for remote villages in Tram Tau, Mu Cang Chai, Van Chan, and Van Yen districts by 2025. Surveying and design work is currently being actively carried out by contractors.

In the industrial sector, the Department of Industry and Trade is also providing active support to investors to speed up major projects, including those related to wood processing and industrial zone infrastructure development. Priority projects include infrastructure investment in Tran Yen Industrial Park and the Phu Thinh 1, Phu Thinh 2, and Yen Hop industrial clusters.

Simultaneously, the establishment of new industrial clusters such as An Thinh and Bao Hung 2 is being promoted. For the Dam Hong Industrial Cluster, the Department is guiding and urging the city-level People's Committee to study relocation plans in accordance with the approved national planning. Regulatory oversight is also being strengthened for hydropower, new energy, and renewable energy projects across the province to ensure timely implementation and sustainable development.

Yen Bai’s decisive efforts to eliminate bottlenecks and accelerate progress on strategic energy and industrial infrastructure projects underscore its strong commitment to enhancing the investment climate. These foundational efforts are expected to enable the rapid and sustainable development of the industry and trade sectors, setting the stage for robust growth in the years ahead.
