Yen Bai honours outstanding teachers, students in 2022-2023 school year

YBO - Nearly 200 teachers and students who obtained outstanding achievements in the 2022-2023 school year in the northern mountainous province of Yen Bai were honoured at a recent ceremony held by the provincial People’s Committee.

Over the past years, education and training has always received timely attention of the province with schools and classroom facilities well-invested, particularly in far-flung areas.

The province’s illiteracy eradication and universal education works have been maintained and improved significantly. Recently, Yen Bai was recognised by the Ministry of Education and Training for meeting the standard of Level 2 secondary education universalisation.

In addition to focusing on improving the quality of mass education, especially in highland and ethnic minority areas, the province has paid attention to supporting distinguished students.

In the 2022-2023 school year, 33 Yen Ban students won high prizes in national exams for excellent students, ranking 6th out of the 15 northern midland and mountainous provinces. It also ranked 27th out of the 63 provinces and cities nationwide, up two steps compared to the previous school year; while two students entered the excellent student national team to participate in international competitions.

Provincial leaders award certificates of merit from the provincial People's Committee to students who win the National Science and Technology Competition and the provincial Science and Technology Competition.

At the award ceremony, the provincial People’s Committee presented certificates of merit to 52 students who won high prizes in the national and provincial competitions in the school year.

The Department of Education and Training rewarded 42 students who won second prizes in the provincial exam; and 69 others who won the second prizes in the contests for excellent students in the middle school and in the provincial science and technology contests.

Besides, 35 teachers with high-achieving students were rewarded by the Department of Education and Training; and 28 students who won first, second and third prizes in the national competition for excellent high school students were also awarded.

By 2025, the mountainous district of Mu Cang Chai (MCC) aims to increase the percentage of its workforce with vocational training to 58%, focusing particularly on agriculture and tourism services.
