Accordingly, the ratio of solid waste collected and treated in the province has reached over 88.8% in urban areas and 33.7% in rural areas.

The province aims to build 13 incinerators of domestic solid waste in its districts and towns in the period of 2020-2025 and raise the rate of collected and treated solid waste to 93.4% in urban areas and over 51.2% in rural areas by 2025.

At present, the province has about 150 self-managed groups in charge of collecting solid waste, an increase of 117 groups compared to 2020. The Fatherland Front Committees at all levels also established and maintained 676 environmental self-managed groups.

To realise the goal, the province has encouraged and attracted organisations and individuals to invest and operate in the field of solid waste treatment with cutting-edge and environmentally friendly technology.

Besides, the province will step up inspection and strictly handle law violations related to domestic solid waste management; bring an end to illegal littering; upgrade, renovate or close spontaneous solid waste landfills in the area.

The province also encourages the model of self-managed groups and teams to keep environmental sanitation in villages, hamlets and residential quarters and persuade households to follow regulations on solid waste collection and classification at source./.
