Yen Binh develops Bat Do bamboo shoots production

YBO - Yen Binh district in the northern mountainous province of Yen Bai has over 300 hectares of Bat Do bamboo shoots, mainly in My Gia, Yen Thanh, Xuan Lai, Cam Nhan communes, of which 200 hectares are under harvest.

On average, each hectare of Bat Do bamboo generates an income up to 30 million VND (nearly 1,300 USD) a year, three times higher than other industrial crops.

The district’s commercial bamboo shoot output is estimated at over 1,200 tonnes, with a revenue of over 5 billion VND in 2023. 

The district continues to implement the project of Bat Do bamboo shoots production associated with value chain linking production and consumption in My Gia, Cam Nhan, Ngoc Chan, Phuc An, Yen Thanh, Xuan Long, Bach Ha, Phuc Ninh, and Tan Huong communes and Yen Binh township with an area of 145ha.

In 2024, Nghia Lo Town developed seven new products meeting the 3-star OCOP standard and reevaluated seven products after three years of certification.

Yen Bai currently boasts over 7,440 hectares of tea cultivation, producing more than 69,000 tons annually.

The global Halal market is valued at approximately USD 5 trillion annually, with a strong demand for cinnamon and tea products. This presents significant export opportunities for Yen Bai Province.

In 2024, Yen Bai City achieved vocational training for 2,259 individuals, exceeding the target of 1,790 by 115%. Of this total, 578 people were trained at the college level, achieving 125% of the assigned target of 461.
