Yen Bai''s industrial production index rises by 10.65%

The industrial production index (IIP) of the northern province of Yen Bai in the first seven months of this year increased by 10.65% year-on-year, according to the provincial Department of Industry and Trade.

Most industries tended to recover during the period with industrial production prospered and enterprises signed many new orders.

In July alone, the index rose 1.76% from the previous month and 6.44% compared to the same period last year.

From January to July, some sectors recorded production growth remarkably compared with the same period last year, such as wood and bamboo processing up by 22.8%; production of chemical and chemical products by 35.8%; production of non-metal products by 9.75%; production of pharmaceuticals by 19.8%, production and distribution of electricity, gas, steam and air conditioners by 50.19%.

It can be seen that the industrial sector has continued to play an important role in promoting the overall growth of the province. Some products saw high production growth in the first seven months of this year, including construction stones up by 9.69%, cassava starch by 42.42%; garments by 63.04%; plywood by 32.41% and electricity by 61.63% due to higher rainfall in the first months of this year compared with the same period last year.

The number of employees working in industrial enterprises increased by 7.68% year-on-year by the end of July.

The global Halal market is valued at approximately USD 5 trillion annually, with a strong demand for cinnamon and tea products. This presents significant export opportunities for Yen Bai Province.

In 2024, Yen Bai City achieved vocational training for 2,259 individuals, exceeding the target of 1,790 by 115%. Of this total, 578 people were trained at the college level, achieving 125% of the assigned target of 461.
