  •  Friday, November 13, 2020

In the context of the complex and unpredictable developments in international relations, Yen Bai province has consolidated and expanded its relations with many international organisations and representative offices at home and abroad, such as the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Singapore Manufacturing Federation and the British Business Group.

The locality has set up cooperative ties with Yunnan province of China and Mimasaka city of Japan, while maintaining its traditional relations with France’s Val de Marne and the Lao provinces of Vientiane and Saynhabuly.

As many as 64 delegations and 244 officials have been sent abroad to work and study. Meanwhile, Yen Bai welcomed 59 international delegations with 337 members who came to work, seek investment opportunities and run business.

Last year, Yen Bai’s exported nearly 170 million USD worth of goods, up 30.3 percent from 2018. The locality now counts 27 foreign-invested projects, 23 ODA programmes and projects valued at over 7.03 trillion VND, and 32 NGO-funded programmes and projects with accumulative disbursed capital of 10.11 billion VND.

Speaking at a recent working session with Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Hoai Trung, Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Do Duc Duy asked the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to further support Yen Bai in expanding cooperation with localities like Yunnan and Mimasaka, and establishing ties with a locality of the Republic of Korea (RoK).

He proposed the ministry, through its representative offices abroad, help Yen Bai with investment attraction and promotion in foreign countries, introduce potential foreign investors to the province, persuade international organisations and foreign NGOs to fund programmes and projects in the locality, and seek the UNESCO recognition for Xoe Thai dance of Vietnam’s northwestern provinces./.
