Cooperatives seek to access support policies

YBO - The provincial People’s Council has issued many support policies to promote the development of economic sectors, including the collective economy, especially those to support cooperatives, cooperative groups, organisations, individuals and households.

By March 2022, Yen Bai province had 589 cooperatives, operating in a variety of industries, with over 60 percent of those specialising in agriculture.

In a recent dialogue, member units of the provincial Cooperative Union debated on difficulties facing local cooperatives in accessing mechanisms and policies of the State and the province, especially those related to capital, training human resources, trade promotion, sales of products, tourism development, and ways to solve difficulties of the tea industry.

The dialogue has helped the provincial Cooperative Union understand more difficulties and obstacles that its member units have countered. Meanwhile, representatives from cooperatives and businesses were updated information on policies of the State and the locality related to economic support for collectives and cooperatives.

In 2024, Nghia Lo Town developed seven new products meeting the 3-star OCOP standard and reevaluated seven products after three years of certification.

The global Halal market is valued at approximately USD 5 trillion annually, with a strong demand for cinnamon and tea products. This presents significant export opportunities for Yen Bai Province.

In 2024, Yen Bai City achieved vocational training for 2,259 individuals, exceeding the target of 1,790 by 115%. Of this total, 578 people were trained at the college level, achieving 125% of the assigned target of 461.
