Tran Yen promotes efficiency of key economic development schemes

On January 29, 2016, Tran Yen district of Yen Bai province introduced Resolution 22-NQ/HU on key programmes to develop agricultural economy in the 2016-2020 period. After five years of implementation, all key targets for the period have been surpassed.

The district has give timely directions to remove difficulties and obstacles during the realisation of the resolution, while defining the goals and tasks for six programmes: growing "Bat do” bamboo for bamboo shoots; replacing old tea areas with new ones; developing mulberry farm to raise silkworms; planting citrus trees; developing concentrated breeding farms; and forming cinnamon production areas.

So far, the district has basically completed the planning of regions for the production of commercial goods and key products, including a 3,500-hectare "Bat do” bamboo area, a 900-hectare mulberry farm, 16,000 hectares of cinnamon area, and 762 hectares of citrus area.

Meanwhile, small-scale breeding has been switched to farming for commercial purposes, thus developing large-scale concentrated breeding areas and increasing linkagesin agricultural production, contributing to raising the productivity, output and value of the products.

As a result, agro-forestry-fisheries production for 2020 is likely to reach 1,350 billion VND, exceeding the set target, creating a basic change in the scale, productivity and efficiency of strong and potential products that have stable markets. At the same time, a firm connection has been set up for all parties in farm produce production, processing and selling.

In 2024, Nghia Lo Town developed seven new products meeting the 3-star OCOP standard and reevaluated seven products after three years of certification.

Yen Bai currently boasts over 7,440 hectares of tea cultivation, producing more than 69,000 tons annually.

The global Halal market is valued at approximately USD 5 trillion annually, with a strong demand for cinnamon and tea products. This presents significant export opportunities for Yen Bai Province.

In 2024, Yen Bai City achieved vocational training for 2,259 individuals, exceeding the target of 1,790 by 115%. Of this total, 578 people were trained at the college level, achieving 125% of the assigned target of 461.
