Yen Bai plants 19,400ha of rice for spring crop

YBO - For the spring crop this year, Yen Bai planned to cultivate nearly 19,100 hectares of rice. As of March 10, rice had been planted on 19,425 hectares, surpassing the goal by 2 percent. Localities with planting areas exceeding their assigned plans are Tran Yen, Yen Binh, Luc Yen, and Van Yen districts and Yen Bai city.

In addition, Yen Bai also sowed rice seeds on 300ha in Thac Ba lake as the water level had receded.

Along with accelerating the planting of rice, local people have also actively grown vegetables for the crop. To date, the entire province has planted maize on over 12,120 hectares; cassava on nearly 3,500 hectares; sweet potatoes on over 1,830 hectares; peanuts on 1,135 hectares; and vegetables on over 5,900 hectares.

In 2024, Yen Bai City achieved vocational training for 2,259 individuals, exceeding the target of 1,790 by 115%. Of this total, 578 people were trained at the college level, achieving 125% of the assigned target of 461.
