The agricultural sector in Yen Bai has demonstrated resilience by maintaining production under adverse conditions brought on by natural disasters and climate change. Efforts have focused on integrated and comprehensive development of agriculture, forestry, and new rural construction. These initiatives have been closely tied to policies supporting agriculture, rural communities, and farmers, particularly in promoting the cultivation of key crops and livestock in the province's large-scale specialized farming areas.

Additionally, Yen Bai has continued to implement Resolution No. 69/2020/NQ-HDND, issued on December 16, 2020, by the Provincial People's Council, aimed at supporting agricultural, forestry, and fishery production during the 2021–2025 period. In 2024, the province allocated a total budget of VND 48,909.4 million for support measures under this program.

With practical and targeted solutions implemented through various policies, Yen Bai Province achieved notable growth in several agricultural indicators in 2024. Total grain production is estimated at 309,700 tons, reaching 97.1% of the annual target. The output of live meat is expected to reach 80,000 tons, surpassing the target at 106.7%. The total herd of major livestock is projected at 309,700 heads, achieving 97.1% of the planned goal.

Throughout the province, 9,400 hectares out of the planned 13,400 hectares have been newly certified for sustainable forest management (FSC, PEFC/VFCS) and organic farming, achieving 70.14% of the target. Cumulatively, the province is estimated to have certified 36,800 hectares out of the targeted 43,450 hectares. The forest coverage rate has been maintained at a stable 63% in 2024.

As a result, despite significant damages caused by Storm No. 3, the agriculture, forestry, and fisheries sector of Yen Bai has managed to maintain an estimated growth rate of 5.63% for the year.
