The foreign sponsors include 12 non-governmental organisations (NGOs), one embassy, two localities and the European Union.

Most projects and programmes are in the fields of socio-economic development, education-training, health care, social affairs and natural resources-environment.

In 2019, Yen Bai did well in managing the operation of foreign NGOs in the province. The organisations adhered to laws and regulations on management and use of aid.

As of the end of 2019, more than 500 foreign NGOs were operating in Vietnam, of which 158 were from America, 152 from Asia-Pacific and 194 from Europe.

In 2020, the Committee for Foreign NGO Affairs is set to maintain management of foreign NGOs, promote the sharing of information, and enhance working efficiency of coordinating agencies as well as train personnel for the work.
