32 foreign-funded projects underway in Yen Bai

YBO - At present 32 projects and programmes funded by foreign partners are being carried out in Yen Bai with total committed grant of more than 15 million USD (351 billion VND).

The foreign sponsors include 12 non-governmental organisations (NGOs), one embassy, two localities and the European Union.

Most projects and programmes are in the fields of socio-economic development, education-training, health care, social affairs and natural resources-environment.

In 2019, Yen Bai did well in managing the operation of foreign NGOs in the province. The organisations adhered to laws and regulations on management and use of aid. 

Besides implementing aid projects, the NGOs also helped promote Yen Bai to the international community. 

As of the end of 2019, more than 500 foreign NGOs were operating in Vietnam, of which 158 were from America, 152 from Asia-Pacific and 194 from Europe. 

In 2020, the Committee for Foreign NGO Affairs is set to maintain management of foreign NGOs, promote the sharing of information, and enhance working efficiency of coordinating agencies as well as train personnel for the work.

By applying technology, the branch of the Netma joint Stock Company in Vinh Kien commune of Yen Binh district, Yen Bai province, has completely mastered how to turn by-products generated during wood processing into bio pellets – a source of clean fuel for civil and industrial use as well as export.

Yen Bai aims to lure 60-80 investment projects each year.

A mountainous locality with many difficulties, Yen Bai has defined investment attraction as a key solution to boost the local socio-economic development.
