Yen Bai is now home to nearly 3,200 businesses and 700 cooperatives who have different strategies to build and boost their own brands.

As of the end of 2023, 47 local staples had been granted with certificates of intellectual protection, including 10 geographical indications, 20 certification marks, and 17 collective marks.

Over the past time, the province has paid due attention to developing intellectual property (IP) assets.

Last year, the provincial Department of Science and Technology carried out 15 IP projects worth over 2.45 billion VND (98,850 USD), with 10 establishing IP rights and the remainders managing and developing IP assets. Products developed under the projects have won the market’s favour and many of them have gained a foothold in the market.

As part of the efforts to help enterprises, cooperatives, craft villages and household businesses to build brands, the province has provided them with information and knowledge related to brand development through training courses, and given them consultation in design, search, and registration for brand protection in domestic and foreign markets as well as strategy building. Besides, the province has offered the businesses free advertising on the Department of Industry and Trade’s website.

In the coming time, the provincial Department of Industry and Trade will continue accompanying local firms during their investment, production and distributions of goods. The focus will be placed on supporting business and production development, popularisation of brands, trade connectivity, and market development./.
