Welcoming the delegation, Phuoc informed them of the natural conditions, potential and strengths of Yen Bai, especially its socio-economic development achievements in recent years, and the unique cultural features of each locality.

He said that projects sponsored by the Bread for the World organisation through the International Centre for Research in Agroforestry (ICRAF) in Yen Bai have so far brought positive results.

He expressed his hope that the project "Ecological agriculture for sustainable landscapes to reduce poverty for ethnic minorities in the rorthern mountainous areas" carried out in Tram Tau district will contribute to bringing about stable income for people, improving local agricultural and forestry production in a sustainable manner, and creating a stable and harmonious agricultural ecological environment. Yen Bai is committed to closely coordinating and giving maximum support so that the project can be implemented soon and achieve the highest efficiency.

Christopher Benjamin Selbach also showed his belief that the above-mentioned project will contribute to expanding the landscape, and creating favourable conditions for local ecotourism.

The project also aims to select Malanga varieties for the most purebred ones, thereby contributing to the conservation and replication of varieties of this root vegetable throughout the province. It also helps support locals to expand markets for Shan Tuyet tea from harvesting to processing to both create ecological landscapes and increase livelihoods for people in Tram Tau mountainous district.
