Accordingly, the high school entrance exam will take place from June 2 to 4. It is expected that over 9,000 students will take the exam.

Meanwhile, the high school graduation exam will take place from June 27 to 30. More than 8,200 candidates registered for the exam, of which over 7,900 are studying in  the12th grade at high schools and continuing education centres in the province.

Candidates will take three tests in mathematics, literature, foreign languages, and one of the two combined tests - natural science or social science. The content of the exam is mainly in the 12th-grade programme.

The 2023 high school graduation exam has some technical and professional adjustments under the direction of the Ministry of Education and Training. This year is also the first year that Yen Bai does not make the history exam a substitute for the foreign language exam because all students are taught English at school.

At the conference, Vice Chairman of the provincial People's Committee Vu Thi Hien Hanh requested that the organisation of the exams in 2023 must strictly follow regulations and that safety be ensured. The chairpersons of the district-level People's Committees are responsible for the organisation of the exams in their localities.

Hanh also emphasised the goals and tasks for the province's education and training sector including a harmonious implementation of solutions to improve the quality of education, with at least 30 students winning prizes at the national excellent high school student contests; high school graduation rate topping 98.9% (an increase of 0.04% over the same period last year). So far this year, the provincial education sector has met the target of national prizes with 33 prizes, one more than that of 2022.
