Yen Bai impresses visitors at festival featuring Tay Bac quintessence

YBO - Yen Bai has promoted its cultural identity at the 19th Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Festival through the introduction of the locality’s OCOP (One Commune-One Product) products, the Xoe dance of Thai people, and local tourist destinations.

The festival was part of the activities within the framework of the tourism development cooperation programme between the eight Tay Bac (northwestern) localities expanded and Ho Chi Minh City.

Vu ThiHienHanh, Vice Chairwoman of the provincial People’s Committee, introduced local agro-fisheries and OCOP products as well as the province’s specialties to visitors. Xoe dance of Thai ethnic minority people was also performed by artists of Nghia Lo at the event.

The activity was meaningful for Yen Bai to promote the art of Xoe dance of Thai people in the northwestern region in general and Thai people in Muong Lo area of Nghia Lo town in particular, which has been recognised by the UNESCO as an intangible cultural heritage of humankind.

At the event, visitors were also introduced to Yen Bai tourism through an exhibition of photos that won high prizes at domestic and international photo contests. The photos featured the natural landscapes, culture and tourist destinations of the province.


Foreign tourists are excited at the beauty of natural landscapes and people shown in paintings and photos. 

It aims to enhance collaboration between northwestern localities and Ho Chi Minh City, thus promoting tourism strengths of each locality.

This year, the four-day festival drew 150 booths by 48 cities and provinces and 30 travel firms.

During the festival, Yen Bai highlighted its unique tourism products, while introducing to domestic and international tourists the image of the land and people of Yen Bai of "friendliness, humanity, solidarity, creativity and integration”, contributing to promoting local tourism and meeting the travel demands in the upcoming peak season./.
