With a total investment of 1.9 trillion VND, the road is nearly 69 km in length, with a roadbed and surface of 7.5m and 5.5m in width, along with a permanent drainage work. Construction is expected to last six years.

Its starting point is in Che Cu Nha commune of Mu Cang Chai district, while the ending point is in Phong Du Thuong commune, Van Yen district, Yen Bai province.

Once completed, the road will connect Mu Cang Chai town and Che Cu Nha and Nam Co communes of Mu Cang Chai district, and Phong Du Thuong commune of Van Yen district with Noi Bai - Lao Cai highway (IC15 intersection), removing the only-way situation of National Highway 32, meeting expectations of local people.

The road is expected to help promote tourism development, especially eco-tourism, convalescence, culture, experience and discovery tourism, contributing to exploiting the potential of the majestic landscape and cultural identity with very specific characteristics of the mountainous communes of Mu Cang Chai and Van Yen districts.
