YBO - In an effort to promote and expand a culture of reading within families and communities—fostering the development of cultural and spiritual values and contributing to a learning society—Yen Bai City will launch the 2025 contest “Families Reading Together – Building a Loving Family Library.” The contest will run from April 15 to April 25, 2025.

Households residing within the city (with a focus on encouraging multi-generational participation) will take part by producing a 10-minute video clip. The clips may employ various applications and visual effects, provided that the video and audio quality is ensured, and the final product is in a common digital format suitable for uploading to YouTube.

Each contest video must include three segments: a family introduction, a presentation of the family’s book collection, and a book promotion segment.

In the introduction, families will present each member and highlight reading activities within their household. This segment, lasting two minutes, may incorporate artistic elements such as poetry, song, or verse.

The second segment, dedicated to the family library, should feature visual footage of the family’s bookshelf and scenes of family members reading. Participants will explain how the library was created and how it fosters reading habits and intergenerational bonds. This segment should be four minutes long.

The final segment, also four minutes in length, will involve a presentation of a particularly meaningful book from the family’s collection, aiming to inspire and promote reading.

Contest entries are to be submitted to the Department of Culture, Science, and Information of Yen Bai City between April 15 and April 25, 2025.

This competition is intended to honor the cultural values of Vietnamese families and encourage positive change in attitudes and behaviors toward family life. It supports the goal of building prosperous, progressive, happy, and civilized families—aligning with the celebration of Vietnam Family Day on June 28.

Moreover, the contest aims to recognize individuals and families with a strong tradition of academic excellence and a passion for reading, thereby promoting the spread of reading culture within families and communities, and affirming the vital role of books in building happy families.
