Yen Bai exerts efforts in forest restoration, greenhouse emissions reduction

YênBái - The Farmers’ Association of Yen Bai province has just cooperated with the Management Board of the Forest and Farm Facility (FFF) programme, the Vietnam Farmer’s Union (VNFU), the Farmers’ Association of Yen Binh district, and Tan Nguyen commune to launch a large timber afforestation and forest restoration campaign in an attempt to reduce greenhouse emission.

Over the past years, the province has implemented a timber forest development project for the period of 2021-2025 with a goal of planting 10,000 hectares of large timber forests while promoting the protection and development of existing ones.

Through the FFF programme Phase II, since the beginning of this year, the provincial Farmers' Association has coordinated to support 16,390 seedlings for farmer members in Tran Yen, Yen Binh, and Mu Cang Chai districts participating in building large timber afforestation models with high economic value.

In Tan Nguyen commune, Yen Binh district, the programme has provided fertiliser to help transform 5 hectares of large timber forest, four models of cultivation and animal husbandry, and over 200 hectares of forest for protection allotment; and handed over a green credit fund to Tan Nguyen general service cooperative, Dong Ke village cooperative group, and others.

After the launching ceremony, representatives of departments, sectors, cooperatives, and members of Farmers' Associations supported Bui Thi Hoa family, in Tien Minh village, Tan Nguyen commune, to plant 1.5 hectare of tree.
