In Spring 1960, the late leader initiated a movement calling on all people to participate in a tree planting festival. Since then, it has truly brought great benefits to the country and become a good custom of Vietnamese people during Tet and Spring.

For many years, Tran Yen has well organised tree planting and afforestation movements with the participation of the entire political system, and the active engagement of local people. The annual planted forest area is nearly 3,000 hectares, exceeding the assigned plan. The district's forest coverage has reached 70%.

In 2024, the province is striving to plant 15,000 hectares of forest and 4.72 million scattered trees, and maintain its forest coverage rate at 63%.
