(YBO) - Van Yen district is organising consultation meetings on working abroad under contract for labourers in 18 communes with ethnic minority communities from September 16 to October 12.

Van Yen organises consultation meetings on overseas jobs for 18 ethnic minority communes

The activity is carried out in line with Plan No. 216/KH-UBND dated August 4, 2023, of the district People's Committee on the implementation of subproject 3 on "Developing vocational education and creating jobs for labourers in ethnic minority and mountainous areas " under Project 5 of the National Target Programme for socio-economic development of ethnic minority and mountainous areas in Van Yen district in 2023.

The consultations are held with the coordination of Yen Bai Provincial Employment Service Centre, Minh Viet Global joint Stock Company, An Duong Group Development joint Stock Company, Ha Thanh Manpower Supply joint Stock Company, Bac Ha College of Technology; and the People's Committees of An Binh, An Thinh, Dai Phac, Dong An, Chau Que Ha, Chau Que Thuong, Dong Cuong, Quang Minh, Xuan Tam, Phong Du Ha, Lam Giang, Lang Thip, Tan Hop, Vien Son, Xuan Ai, Yen Phu, Yen Thai and Ngoi A communes. 

At the meetings, the district department of Labour, War Invalids and Social Affairs along with the Yen Bai Provincial Employment Service Centre and businesses licensed to recruit workers for overseas jobs provide information, advice, and job orientation in each labour market, respond to questions on policies, markets, rights and obligations of workers and introduce State policies on supporting labourers working abroad under contract.

The events aim to help minimise risks for workers and equip them with information about the domestic and foreign labour markets. It will open up opportunities for them to find jobs suitable to their conditions, abilities and skills as well as help shift the workforce from agriculture to non-agriculture, contributing to improving the quality of human resources, eliminating hunger and reducing poverty.

So far, three consultation meetings have been held in Yen Phu, An Thinh - Dai Phac and Vien Son communes with the attendance of more than 100 persons of working age.

A total of 286 labourers of Van Yen were sent to work abroad under contract from 2020 to the end of August this year, the highest number among districts, towns and cities in the province.

After deducting living expenses, a Vietnamese worker can pocket 8 - 10 million VND per month in such markets as Malaysia and Libya. The income can be 12 - 16 million VND per month if he is employed in middle-income economies like the United Arab Emirates and Taiwan and 25-40 million VND per month in the Republic of Korea and Japan./.
