For nearly a month, every night, the art troupe of Che Cu Nha commune’s Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union has been practicing traditional songs and dances of the Mong people. The union’s Secretary Khang Thi Bla said that to prepare for the special holiday, the commune Youth Union has selected 20 young men and women to participate in the traditional arts and ethnic costume performance competition of Mu Cang Chai district and a street festival.

The street festival is expected to see the participation of over 300 people, who will parade and perform folk dance, Mong panpipe and leaf horn, moving on the roads in the district centre.

Mu Cang Chai township is also rushing to prepare facilities for activities. The section of National Highway 32 crossing the township has been decorated with flowers, flags, banners and slogans. Streets have been cleaned up, and hostels, homestays and restaurants also readied to serve tourists.

A wide range of activities will be held on the occasion of the day such as a special art programme on September 1, sport competitions, folk games, mass art performances, and a costume show of ethnic groups in the district.

Visitors can also choose to participate in tours to explore natural scenery, admire terraced fields in the rice ripening season.

For the convenience of tourists, recently, La Pan Tan commune launched a 500-member motorbike taxi group of Mam Xoi Hill Tourism Cooperative to serve tourists exploring the special national relic site of Mu Cang Terraced Fields.

With over 90% of the population belonging to the Mong ethnic group that owns unique customs, traditions, and cultural features, Mu Cang Chai mountainous district is promoting its strength in developing many new tourism products associated with preserving the Mong ethnic culture to become an increasingly attractive destination for domestic and foreign tourists.
