Yen Bai develops project on preserving ethnic cultural village

YBO – An investment worth of 7.6 billion VND (320,000 USD) to develop a project on preserving a Tay ethnic traditional cultural village in Muong Lai commune, Luc Yen district in the northern province of Yen Bai, was approved by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

Covering on an area of 1,876 sq.m with functional sections, the project will include a cultural house which will be built in the form of traditional stilt house of the ethnic group with gates, fences, stone embankments, ground leveling, outdoor lighting, flower gardens, trees, and gym equipment, among others.

Besides, the project will also focus on preserving intangible cultural values such as organising classes on the practice and demonstration of various types of intangible culture, folk art clubs, traditional vocational training in knitting, restoring traditional festivals, and training skills, while promoting cultural tourism of the local Tay ethnic group.

Trieu Van Huan, Secretary of the Party Committee of Muong Lai commune, said this is a special gift for the district in general and the commune in particular. In the coming time, the local Party Committee and administration will continue to promote the spirit of solidarity in the community and actively preserve good cultural values of Tay ethnic group in the locality.
