Yen Bai honours 50 exemplary women in livelihood development

YBO– The Women’s Union of Yen Bai province held a conference on May 15 to honour exemplary women in livelihood development in the 2017 - 2023 period. Vice Chairwoman of the provincial People’s Committee Vu ThiHienHanh, who is also head of the “For the progress of women” Committee of Yen Bai attended and delivered a speech at the event.

The conference commended 50 outstanding women whose livelihood models have generated annual incomes of 500 million - 1 billion VND (21,300 - 42,600 USD). Among them, 10 received commendation from the provincial People’s Committee and 40 others gained praise from the provincial Women’s Union.

They have exerted efforts in working, production and business, thus becoming outstanding examples of Yen Bai women in livelihood development and social activities as well.

During 2017 - 2023, such emulation movements as "Women assist one another to develop livelihoods” and "Women excel in promoting livelihoods”, along with the plan on helping women to start business in the 2017 - 2025 period have been carried out widely by women’s unions at all levels.


Leaders of the provincial Women’s Union and the Information and Education Board of the provincial Party Committee present the certificates of merit from the provincial Women’s Union to female role models.


The unions in Yen Bai have coordinated to open 198 short-term vocational training courses for nearly 5,700 women, along with more than 3,100 classes transferring animal and crop farming techniques to locals. They have also built 513 livelihood models helping poor women improve their incomes.

Thanks to the unions’ livelihood development models, 27 businesses, 37 cooperatives, and 762 cooperative models owned by women have been set up. Meanwhile, 7,764 models of women have generated high incomes, helping tens of thousands of women escape from poverty and thousands of others run farms, businesses and cooperatives, earn high and stable incomes, and support their families.
