According to a freshly announced preliminary report on results of the excavation, which is digging a 15 sq.m. area from April 20 to June 25, located on a low mound on the edge of the local Thac Ba Lake, the traces of architectural terracotta are revealed in April and May every year when the lake's water level lowers.

There are many pieces of pottery, earthenware, tiles found around the area, with vestiges of a kiln at the edge of the mound discovered.

After conducting a survey of the area, the provincial museum has dug three excavation pits. The survey and excavation have so far created a basic picture of the age and architectural type of the ancient ruins. The construction was estimated to date back to the 17th - 18th centuries, with almost no traces of architecture as well as building materials and utensils of the Nguyen Dynasty (19th - 20th centuries).

The excavation and related research aim to collect scientific data for the conservation and restoration of the Dao Kieu relic site and promote the historical and cultural value of local relics in general./.
