Lao students in Yen Bai celebrate Bunpimay festival

YênBái - The provincial People’s Committee on April 15 held a gathering for 113 Lao students in Yen Bai to celebrate Bunpimay, the traditional New Year festival of Laos, and presented gifts to the students on the occasion.

In the 2020-2021 academic year, there are 113 Lao students who study in the College of Pedagogy, the College of Vocational Training and the Medical College of Yen Bai.

At the meeting, the Lao students thanked local authorities of Yen Bai to provide best conditions for them to live and study in the locality, and teachers and local students for their support in both daily life and study.

Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Chien Thang lauded the academic performance of Lao students, asking the colleges to pay more attention to them and create favourable conditions for them to engage in extracurricular activities.

He noted the need to help the students improve Vietnamese language skills so that they can get deeper understanding of people and culture of Yen Bai and Vietnam in general.

On the occasion of Bunpimay festival, Thang expressed his hope that the Lao students will record high results during their study and succeed in their career.

He also wished for stronger cooperation between Yen Bai and Xayaburi province of Laos, contributing to maintaining and reinforcing the evergreen and long-lasting ties between the two countries.
