All classrooms, offices and corridors are decorated with trees, while flower growing is encouraged within the school.

Highlight of the campaign is the "exchanging garbage for trees” model, in which students are encouraged to collect recycled trash and exchange for trees. With 5-10 kilogrammes of garbage, students can take one tree to decorate their classrooms or dormitory.

According to Vice Rector of the Collage Vu Thi Mai Oanh, the move is significant to help change staff and students’ habit in environmental protection.

Meanwhile, the Ethnic Boarding Secondary School in Van Chan district is now covered with 50 shade trees. Besides, an area was zoned off for building a "green library” where teachers and students take care of flowers and a 4,000 square-metre vegetable garden.

Principal of the school Sam Thi Minh Khuyen said that the activity aims to raise the students’ awareness of environmental protection, and a green lifestyle.

"Greening of local schools” is part of the measures to improve comprehensive education within schools, as well as realise the campaign "happy school” launched by the provincial Department of Education and Training.
