Yen Bai strives to plant 15,000 hectares of forests each year

YênBái - Member of the Party Central Committee and Secretary of Yen Bai province’s Party Committee Do Duc Duy, permanent Vice Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Ta Van Long, Vice Secretary of the provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Tran Huy Tuan attended a ceremony in response to the Year of the Ox tree planting festival in Phu Thinh commune, Yen Binh district on February 17.

Over the past years, Yen Bai has well carried out tree planting and afforestation movements, with 14,000-15,000 hectares of forests grown annually. In 2020, more than 16,000 hectares of forests of all types were planted, thus helping to maintain the province’s forest coverage of 63 percent – the fourth biggest proportion in the country.

With the aim of developing Yen Bai rapidly and sustainably to become a green, harmonious and happy locality, and respond to a programme to plant additional 1 billion trees in 2021-2025, the province is determined to grow over 15,000 hectares of forests each year, own over 40,000 hectares of perennial tree forests, and increase the forest coverage to 65 percent by 2025.

On the same day, all localities in the province also responded to the tree planting festival. Based on their specific conditions, each locality chose to grow plants suitable to its climate, soil, strengths and cultural identity.
