In a bid to complete the set targets, the provincial Department of Industry and Trade has joined hands with competent authorities and the People’s Committees of districts and Yen Bai city to encourage local firms to save materials and fuel, mobilise capital for production, and work to ensure labour safety, food safety and hygiene as well as fire prevention.

"We are carrying out trade promotion work to look for markets for local products while creating market forecast to enhance production with a view to achieving industrial production growth target from the beginning of the year”, said Vice Director of the provincial Department of Industry and Trade Trinh Van Thanh.

Last year, the province’s industrial production value met only 91.4 percent of the set plan due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the value was 9.2 percent higher than that recorded in 2019.

Yen Bai Cement Company, a member of Yen Bai Cement and Minerals JSC, carried out a wide range of measures to ensure effective production in the COVID-19 year.

According to director of the company Nguyen Van Duc, all workers were mobilised to work three shifts per day, striving to produce 1,500 tonnes of quality clinker and cement per day to meet demand of the market.

Chairman and Director of the company Mai Van Hoang said the company’s workers and some 500 contracted households are focusing on tree care and forest management and protection, adding they are preparing land and saplings for afforestation in spring.

Among 3.59 trillion VND in state budget collection in the province in 2020, local firms contributed 1.26 trillion VND.
