Ta Thi Ly, a resident in Tan Huong commune’s Yen Thang village, received 10 million VND (423 USD) in assistance from the district's new rural area building fund. With the money, along with support of her relatives and the community, she was able to build a decent house.

Hoang Thi Trinh's family in Tan Huong commune’s Khe Gay was in the same situation. As a single mom with unstable income, she never dared to think about building a house.

In 2022, she was granted 10 million VND from the district's new rural area building, which, together with assistance from relatives and the community, enabled her to build a house on a 70 sq.m land lot, this year.

In 2022, Tan Huong commune is assigned to build 16 houses, including 15 houses for poor and near-poor households and one for a family under social welfare policy. The commune has done well in mobilising the entire political system, including mass organisations and schools join hands in the work.

With the motto "Leave no one behind", especially the poor, near-poor,  and households with housing difficulties, Yen Binh district has directed communes and towns to make a list of temporary and dilapidated houses that are in need of housing support.

This year, there were 270 poor, near-poor households, and disadvantaged households who needed support to upgrade their homes. Of these, 250 houses should be built new and 20 houses needed repair, with a total estimated cost of more than 38 billion VND.

The district has prioritised four communes, namely Ngoc Chan, Phuc An, Yen Thanh and Tan Nguyen, to help them complete the criterion relating to housing, contributing to fulfilling all criteria for new rural area building in 2022. The district has so far completed the building of 140 houses and the rest will be finished and put into use before the 2023 Lunar New Year.
