Over 11,000 ha of forest get sustainable management certificates

YênBái - Yen Bai province has so far had over 11,000 ha out of 24,000 ha of forest granted sustainable forest management certificates in accordance with standards of the Vietnam Forest Certification Scheme (VFCS) and the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC), and the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC).

They include over 9,006 ha in Yen Binh district, 1,730 ha in Tran Yen district, and nearly 310 ha in Luc Yen district. 

The provincial Forest Protection Department, sub-departments, and the People's Committees of districts have coordinated with enterprises in reviewing forest areas that meet conditions to be granted with certificates, encouraging local residents to register for forest certification.

They have also focused on providing technical training courses on sustainable forest management for locals.

In 2022, Yen Bai completed the issuance of FSC, PEFC and VFCS certificates for over 6,698 ha of planted forests, including over 1,730 ha in Tran Yen district and over 4,968 ha in Yen Binh district.

The provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development is considering documents asking for certificates for 4,500 ha planted by Hoa Phat Forestry JSC in Bao Ai, Cam An and Tan Nguyen communes, and over 2,073 ha by An Viet Phat Forestry Cooperative in Xuan Lai, Phuc An, Vu Linh, Bach Ha, and Yen Binh communes and Thac Ba township, in Yen Binh district.
